Cherry

The wild cherry can grow up to 25 m in height. Trunk diameter can grow up to 1.5 m. Wild cherry grows individually and is a rare species. In spring it has nice white blossoms. Young trees have smooth bark, while older trees have rough and cracked bark of brown to black colour. Its wood colour ranges from yellowish to brownish red and is highly valued. It is used for manufacturing of veneer for expensive furniture as well as for exquisite musical instruments and carvings. In the past, the cherry wood was used for furniture that was a real work of art.

When the cherry tree reaches the age of about 60, it stops growing and slowly begins to rot. Wild cherry is a medicinal plant. With the exception of black alder, it differs from all other deciduous trees in our country as it is the only that forms the trunk almost up to the very top. When burning, it releases a lot of heat and a pleasant smell of cherry blossoms.
