Cookies
1. Legal basis
The legal basis for the notification is the amended Electronic Communications Act (Official Gazette No. 109/2012; hereinafter ZEKom-1), which entered into force in early 2013. It introduced new rules regarding the use of cookies and similar technologies for storing information or accessing information stored on the user's computer or mobile device. The new legislation does not prohibit the use of cookies, but prescribes under what conditions and how cookies and similar technologies may be used. The use of cookies that we use is also in line with the European GDPR act.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files which are sent to your device (computer, mobile device, etc.), when you visit a website (in addition to websites, also email messages, online services, advertising and interactive applications). The cookies usually include:
the name of the server from which the cookie was sent;
the lifespan of the cookie;
value - usually a randomly generated unique number.
On each subsequent visit to the website, the cookie will be sent back from your device to the originating website that recognises that cookie, i.e. your device.
The cookie itself does not contain or collect any information that would allow the identification of the user, but if users provide such information to the website themselves, for example by registering, it may link to the data stored in the cookie. If the server reads the cookie together with the web browser, this can help the website to perform more user-friendly services. Only the server that sent the cookie can read and use this cookie.
Types of cookies:
Session cookies exist only from the moment you open your web browser until you end the session and close your web browser. Websites use them to store temporary information, such as items in the shopping cart, for higher security in online banking, etc. Because such cookies are stored for a short time, their user privacy-invasiveness is low.
Persistent cookies exist for a longer, specified period of time, even when the user closes the browser and ends the session. Websites use them to store registration information, do page language settings, as well as to build user profiles and analyse the traffic. Persistent cookies can stay on your computer for days, months, or even years.
First party cookies come from the website that the user is visiting and can be permanent or temporary. Websites use these cookies to store information they will use again on subsequent visits by the user to that website.
Third party cookies originate from other, third parties’ websites (which, for example, display ads on the original website or measure traffic). In this way, third parties can collect user data from different websites and use it for various purposes: from advertising, analytics, to improving their products. Such cookies represent a high privacy-invasion.
3. Why do we need cookies?
Cookies are important for the operation of websites and are fundamental to providing user-friendly online services that enhance the user experience. The most common e-commerce features would not be possible without cookies.
4. Why do websites need cookies?
Websites work optimally when cookies are enabled. Cookies are used by most websites for various purposes:
For a better user experience of the website, they provide visitors the display of content from their previous visits;
To save the selection when creating a shortlist of devices and offers and their comparison;
Keep users logged in on parts of the sites where login is required;
To identify the user's device (computer, tablet, mobile device), which allows automatic adjustment of display of content to different screen sizes;
To collect various statistics on the habits of the web user – monitoring the frequency of visiting a particular website is
possible only with cookies;
To monitor the visit, which enables the detection and elimination of errors, checking the effectiveness of the display
of the content and relevance of advertisements and the continuous improvement of websites;
They are also necessary for the operation of certain services (e.g. online banking, online shops and other forms of e-
commerce...)
5. Which cookies are used by our website?
GAPP d.o.o. website allows selected third parties to place "other cookies" (third party cookies) on its user's devices. By giving consent to the use of cookies, the user gives consent to third parties. All "other cookies" are beyond the control of the operator of this website. Some other cookies are temporary or session cookies, and some are permanent or stored cookies as shown in the Table below.
